BOFA CNC tool holders cover BT30, BT40 and BT50 machine tapers, ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, strong milling chucks and face-mill arbors. Select the holder from the spindle taper, clamping range, gauge length, tool shank and runout target.
Holder types
| Holder type | Use case | BOFA series |
|---|---|---|
| BT ER collet chuck | Flexible clamping for round-shank tools | BT ER Collet Chuck |
| Side-lock holder | Weldon-flat tools and high torque roughing | BT40 Side Lock |
| Strong milling chuck | Rigid clamping for milling cutters and end mills | BT Strong Milling Chuck |
| Face-mill arbor | FMB/FMA cutter mounting on BT40 or BT50 | BT Face Mill Arbor |
RFQ checklist
- Machine taper: BT30, BT40 or BT50.
- Tool shank or cutter interface and clamping diameter.
- Gauge length, pull stud standard and coolant requirement.
- Measured runout target and balanced-spindle requirement.
Common questions
How do I choose ER size?
Match the collet system to the tool shank range and the holder’s working length. Give the actual tool diameter and gauge length so the clamping range can be checked.
Is a side-lock holder suitable for every end mill?
No. It requires the correct Weldon flat and screw position. Use an ER, hydraulic or strong chuck when the tool shank and process call for another clamping method.
What runout should I specify?
State the measurement position and target in the RFQ. Runout at the holder nose and at the cutting edge are different checks; BOFA can confirm the inspection point.
